What is CGPA?
Your Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is the average of every grade point you've earned across all your semesters, weighted by each course's unit load. Nigerian universities and polytechnics use it to determine your final degree classification at graduation. Your GPA, by contrast, only reflects a single semester.

How is CGPA calculated in Nigerian universities?

Multiply each course's grade point by its unit load, add those up for all courses you've ever taken, then divide by the total units. CGPA = Σ(grade point × units) ÷ Σ(units), across every semester.
What is the difference between GPA and CGPA?

GPA (Grade Point Average) covers a single semester. CGPA (Cumulative GPA) covers every semester you've completed so far, using the combined totals of grade points and units.
Should I use the 5.0 or 4.0 grading scale?

Most Nigerian universities use the 5.0 scale (A=5 down to F=0). Some polytechnics and private institutions use a 4.0 scale instead. Check your school's course handbook if you're unsure, then toggle the scale at the top of the calculator.
What CGPA do I need for First Class?

On the 5.0 scale, First Class is 4.50–5.00, Second Class Upper is 3.50–4.49, Second Class Lower is 2.40–3.49, Third Class is 1.50–2.39, and Pass is 1.00–1.49. The calculator scales these automatically if you switch to the 4.0 scale.
