AI Content Checker
Paste text or upload a document to check for signs of AI generation — a clear, honest signal in seconds. Self-hosted and private: text is never sent to a third-party AI provider.
How AI detection works — and its limits
AI text detectors look for statistical fingerprints, not a signature. AI-generated text tends to be statistically "average" — predictable word choices, uniform sentence lengths, few contractions. Human writing is messier: rhythm shifts, word choice gets personal, punctuation is inconsistent. This tool measures those patterns and combines them into a score — but that approach has real limits, so read both columns below, not just the score.
What it measures
- Sentence-length variance
- Vocabulary richness
- Punctuation variety
- Common AI phrasing ("It's important to note...")
- Contraction usage
- Repetition and word-pattern uniformity
Where it falls short
- Can be fooled by lightly-edited AI text
- Can misjudge formal or terse writing as AI-like
- Non-native-English writing is a known false-positive source
- Short samples (under 150 words) are less reliable
- Never proof — a starting point, not a verdict

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this tool proof that a text was written by AI?
+
No. It's a signal, not a verdict. AI detection — from any tool, including commercial ones — can be wrong in both directions: it can miss AI-written text and flag human-written text. Use it as one input alongside your own judgment, not a final decision.
Why does it sometimes flag human writing as AI-generated?
+
Detection works by measuring statistical patterns like sentence-length variation and vocabulary choice. Very formal, simple, or non-native-English writing can share those patterns with AI text, which is a well-documented source of false positives across AI detectors generally. Treat a flagged result as a prompt to look closer, not as evidence on its own.
Is my text stored or sent to a third party?
+
No. Text is sent server-side to our own self-hosted detector and analyzed in memory — it isn't stored anywhere, and it isn't sent to OpenAI, Google, or any other outside AI provider.
Do I need an account to use this?
+
No. Paste text or upload a file and check it immediately — no sign up required.
What file types can I upload?
+
Word documents (.docx) and PDFs (.pdf) up to 10MB. Text is extracted automatically before checking.
